What is life coaching?

We all have goals we hope to accomplish in life. 

This is especially true for those of us who are Intuitive Feelers, or "NFers". But sometimes our goals may be hard to articulate, and sometimes there may be obstacles in our path that are difficult to overcome.

Life coaching can help you define your goals and create a plan for achieving them. It can also teach you skills for overcoming the obstacles in your path—whether those obstacles come from inside or outside of yourself. 

What does a life coach do?

A life coach is trained to help you identify and work toward life goals you would like to accomplish. You are free to target any goal you would like; however, your coach will help you focus on goals that align with your inner strengths and values, as these are likely to bring you the most joy and harmony.


Your life coach will also help you learn important skills you will need in order to achieve your desired goals. For example, they might teach you strategies for accepting criticism, dealing with disappointment, and compromising with others, which can all be challenging for NFers. Your coach will guide you through applying these life skills in ways that feel natural and appropriate for you.

How is a life coach different from a therapist?


A therapist works with individuals who have mental health challenges and are struggling to function in one or more key areas of their life. The goal of therapy is to reduce mental health symptoms and get clients back to baseline functioning. By contrast, a life coach works with individuals who are already at baseline and want to go beyond their current state in life. A life coach empowers their clients to make the necessary changes to achieve an extraordinary life.


What is an example of life coaching?


One example of life coaching involves evaluating one’s current career and long-term goals. Suppose you have a job that pays the bills but doesn’t fulfill you. This is a very common experience among NFers. A life coach can work with you to explore which types of work make you feel inspired and able to fully express yourself. Then, your coach can help you develop and pursue career goals that align with your natural talents and interests.
